The Newington Greenways Alliance

Our Mission

The Newington Greenways Alliance was formed to work hand in hand with the Town of Newington Parks and Recreation Department to develop new multi-use recreational trails as well as improve the existing greenway system.

We are a volunteer organization. If you would like to join, please send an e-mail to: NewingtonGA@aol.com or contact Wendy Rubin at the Newington Parks and Recreation office at (860) 665-8666.

The Existing Greenways System

Cedar Mountain - Balf Park Ridgeline Vista Trail (scenic view from overlook pictured above) Access from Russell Rd adjacent to the Ct Humane Society or from Mountain Rd across from the Hartford Regional Center

Rock Hole Brook - Young's Farm Greenway
Go to Church St; turn in driveway by the big red barn.

Twenty Rod Road - Candlewyck Greenway
Go up Lamplighter Lane and turn left on Highgate Rd. Bear right and you will see two white "x" marks on the trees - there is access to the trail here. Park only in the visitor spots (parked with letters, not letters and numbers). The Greenways Alliance is working on improving this trail as well as locating better places to park in order to access the trail.
