Comparison of per Pupil Spending
Comparison of per Pupil Spending - dfg FG, GH,
I & J Districts with Enrollment Greater than 3,500
During the 2001-02 budget process, SOM
administrators identified what they believed to be those districts in NJ with
enrollments greater than 3,500. That list with accompanying data can be
seen at Per Pupil - 99-00. This is a
partial update for districts in dfg FG, GH, I & J using the Total Cost
per Pupil figure from the High School portion of each district's Report
Card. There have
been several statistical analysis done on past data that show a very low
correlation factor between spending per student and academic outcomes as
measured by performance on standardized tests. One
need look no further than the the spending in and scores in dfg A schools for
support of these studies. Researchers may also want to look at the
Teaneck situation (2nd highest per pupil spending & lowest scores of all
districts here listed).
