Turkey - Land of Contrasts
(Rene's philosophy through pictures)
Who Are We?

I'm Rene, and I live in Arizona.  I work full time as a Senior Administrative Assistant for a Civil Engineering Firm, and I teach Farsi (Persian) part time. I have a BA in Linguistics and an MA in Teaching English as a Second Language from the University of Arizona.
My husband's name is Sadegh.  Before coming to the states, he used to live in  Istanbul, Turkey.  His profession is antique oriental carpet repair.  Sadegh is originally from the western province of Iran, called Azerbaijan.
We love to travel and between the two of us have been to Canada, Mexico, England, Egypt, Greece, Turkey, South Africa, Syria, Lebanon, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai.  Languages intrigue me, and I have studied Farsi, French, Italian, and
Arabic.  Our ongoing mutual hobby is learning each other's native languages (English and Azeri)!  We don't have any children.
Sadegh and I met in 1997 when I was in Istanbul on vacation.  It was truly fate that brought us together!  We got engaged on February 8, 2003 in Istanbul, and then married on April 29th, 2004 in Arizona.  He is now a Permanent Resident of the USA, and together we are living happily ever after!!  :-)
