Drawing Dragonball
!!HOW TO DRAW DBZ!!
Many of you had been e-mailing me and asking me to make lessons on how to draw individual characters. But I believe that before we go on to that you need to learn about the body. In this lesson you will learn about the anatomy of the male Saiyan body. Which is what most of you want to draw, and it also applies for most male muscular guys in Dragonball, so don't worry about that. Okay, let's begin.

At the bottom of this page, you can see the body of one of the SEXIEST characters in Dragonball, of course, Vegeta. Anyways, you can see him in the Anatomical position (sort of) so that we are able to see both his anterior (towards the front) and posterior (towards the back) surfaces. To the side of both drawings are pictures of the "human" muscular system. The reason why I put that picture there (besides being too lazy to draw the Saiyan muscular system) is because the Saiyan body is just like the human body except for minor differences. The difference being that the porportions of the body are different because the Saiyans are so muscular (and because Mr. Toriyama draws them that way).

Anyways, knowing where the muscles are located, can be a great advantage when drawing characters in full body. If you are REALLY dedicated to drawing then you might want to think about taking an Anatomy & Physiology course in high school or college (I'm taking one right now and it really does help). I want you guys (and girls) to study the picture below for about 5 minutes. Don't draw anything, just study it and get familar with the location of the muscles. Once you have done that, sketch the Vegetas that are pictured below. To sketch it, you might want to refer to lesson one and make sure that you also view the muscles to the right of the picture to try make it easier to understand why his body is shaped the way that it is. Don't worry too much on how the hair turned out, or the face, or even the shoes! We will review those things in another lesson. Okay, have we done that already? Great.

Did you pay attention to detail? I hope so. Make sure that you draw in the lines in the arms, legs, and stomach. Those are very important, and viewing the picture to the right of it should pretty much tell you where the lines go. shading is also very important here. Shading also helps emphysize muscles so make sure that you do that as well.

Now, the muscles that you should become most familiar with are the following (you can use the number to refer to the picture below):

Trapezius (1)
Deltoid (2)
Triceps Brachii (3)
Biceps Brachii (4)
Brachioradialis (5)
Pectoralis Major (6)
Rectus Abdominis (7)
Vastus Lateralis (8)
Vastus Medialis (9)
Gastrocnemius (10)
I'm assuming that most of you will know what I am talking about when I mention these body parts in future lessons, so learn them. Now try to name these parts on Vegeta's body. If you have any problems finding the muscles, just send me an e-mail and I'll try to help you. There's a lot more, but I don't want to overload your brains with all the info all in one moment. So see you next lesson! And keep practicing drawing the body of Vegeta. You can also try drawing the body of Goku.
