Star Trek Sim Combat Rules for the USS Eagle
Our ship's martial arts instructor would like to give you some lessons...
LESSON ONE: THE BASICS

  A. Simming

These are the sim fighting rules that are used on the USS Eagle, a Star Trek Sim based on the Original Series:

    1) Give one major action per line.

     Notation:Put a  "::" before and after your action like in the example below.

        EXAMPLE FOR "Ensign Hero":

Ensign Hero        :: looks at his surroundings::
Ensign Hero        :: sees the monster coming out of a cave::

    2) Clearly define each action

        EXAMPLE:

Ensign Hero        :: reaches for his phaser::

    3) Only type actions that belong to your character. Do not type those for another.

    4) For using weapons, you must first ready and aim the weapon as a major action and then fire it as another and separate action.

        EXAMPLE:

Ensign Hero        :: sets his phaser to stun::
Ensign Hero        :: aims at the monster::
Ensign Hero        :: fires at the monster::

    5) Damage (Injury) is posted by the simmer who was intended to be injured or by the CO or whoever has been granted control of the scene by the CO. Damage is not posted by the simmer whose character inflicted the wound.

        EXAMPLE:

Ensign Hero        :: sees the monster::
Rentamonster       :: sees the Ensign::
Rentamonster       :: charges the Ensign::
Ensign Hero        :: sets his phaser to stun::
Ensign Hero        :: aims at the monster::
Ensign Hero        :: fires at the  monster::
Rentamonster       :: falls down::
Ensign Hero        :: approaches the monster::
Rentamonster       :: springs up::
Ensign Hero        :: gasps and runs::
Rentamonster       :: chases the Ensign::

CO                 ACTION: THE MONSTER CATCHES THE ENSIGN. THE MONSTER TAKES THE ENSIGN BACK TO
                   HIS LAIR. THERE THE ENSIGN FINDS THE MISSING AWAY TEAM BUT UNLIKE THE AWAY
                   TEAM HE STILL HAS HIS TRUSTY PHASER AND COMMUNICATOR!!

        (This last type of action is done by the CO or person they have designated to run the scene.)

    It is incorrect and considered "moding" for the person playing "Ensign Hero" to do the following red bolded part:

Ensign Hero        :: aims at the monster::
Ensign Hero        :: fires at the monster::
Ensign Hero        :: monster falls down unconscious::

6) The same rules apply to space battles. Please see "Lesson Three" for more details.
