Non Profit Raffle Program - Update
Raffle Law- Raffles are illegal in California. They are
now permitted under certain conditions only by eligible organizations.
An eligible organization must be registered with the "Registrar of
Charitable Trusts" before conducting a raffle. 90% of the gross receipts
generated from the sale of tickets for each draw must either be used by
the organization that conducted the raffle for its charitable or beneficial
purposes or given to another eligible organization to be used for its
charitable or beneficial purposes. All the raffle proceeds must be used
in California.

Television programs that may be of interest to you:
As of Feb. 1, 2005, RFD-TV
is currently running series
100 of Quilting with Fons & Porter. These shows complement the
book, "Quilting with Fons & Porter." A different shows premiers
each Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. CST and then that show airs four additional
times during each week.
RFD-TV is available to DISH Network (9409), DIRECTV (379), Mediacom and
NCTC cable systems.
American
Quilter, a program from the American Quilter's Society of Paducah,
Kentucky, has started airing on Lifetime
Real Women, a cable channel available through some services. American
Quilter is a fresh, contemporary magazine-style, television series
-- traveling the length and breadth of the continent, and beyond, to cover
all aspects of our fascinating quilt world. Today's quilter experiences
a rich and diverse lifestyle. American Quilter explores the many facets
of that world through in-depth interviews, rich visuals, and compelling,
character-driven storytelling. We will look beyond the studio-based "how
to" programming. American Quilter focuses on the passions, people,
community, language, art, and function of this amazing lifestyle.
WE NEED YOUR HELP - Remember these items!
Things to bring to the next North Quarter Meeting:
1.Yourself and a friend or many friends!
2.Your Guild's Opportunity Quilt (don't forget the tickets!) and
other quilts you would like to share.
3. List of new guild officers if they've changed recently.
4.Names, addresses, phone number and e-mail address of contact people,
pres., program chair, newsletter editor and/or guild website, or any other
new information.
5.Info for Newsletter - Quilt show dates, special events, workshops,
etc.
6. Your guilds latest newsletter.
The North Quarter's main goal is to open lines of communication between
guilds and quilt groups in Greater Northern CA. The boundaries are roughly
from Yuba City to Yreka but surely do not exclude anyone interested in
linking up with the North Quarter information sources. We meet four times
a year at different sites. A $10 contribution and 4 SASE is asked
for a person or group who wishes to be a member and receive
a copy of the quarterly newsletter.
Arlene Arnold, Pacific Flyway Quilters of Colusa, has graciously volunteered
to do the QGNQ Newsletter, so bring lots of information for her. I would
encourage your guild to elect a North Quarter Rep who would love to travel,
meet neat quilters, share ideas and bring back to your guild a wealth
of information.
