Not FDNY
FDNY...not!!!
It comes as no surprise that fire departments, one hundred years ago as today, copied the FDNY.  Here are two badges that specifically use the initials "FDNY" but are neither a part of the Fire Department of the City of New York nor are they situated in the City of New York.  Bedford is in Westchester County (which borders the Bronx).   There are FOUR Watervilles in New York State; I have no idea which one this is from, if any.  I do not know if these are legitimate badges from these departments.  Another department that uses the "FDNY" acronym on its badges is Kings Park FD from Suffolk County.
When two Pearl Harbor badges first showed up on eBay with this lettering, many of us thought they were not only bogus, but very strange too.  Last we heard, Pearl Harbor is in Hawaii and Pearl River is in New York (State not City).  But I got struck by a lightning bolt and realized that NYFD stands for Navy Yard Fire Department.  (I still don't know if these are legit badges...I'm waiting to find out.)
