Meet the Author
e-mail NuVueCue@AOL.com Hi. So glad you are visiting my Home Page. I am a retired teacher, a graduate of the University of Findlay, and my continued interest in all MH /deaf students, especially those who are non-verbal (non-speech) is prevalent. I am the mother of 5 children (1 is deceased), the grandmother of 9, and the great-grandmother of 4. My husband has been in the ministry over 52 years. During over 30 years, I taught school. Most of those years was with MH students, many of them with Cerebral Palsy and nonverbal. Our extended family became involved in Augmentative and Alternative Communication tools. All nine grandchildren, and now great-grandchildren have been involved. Granddaughter, Beth, was thrilled when she found beach balls in the proper sequence of colors for Nu-Vue-Cue (see picture above). We used a permanent black marker to write the colored sounds on each division of the ball. Swimming was a fun time for learning, too! Games like Boggle, Othello, Concentration, Battleship, and others were adapted for teaching the sounds of NVC . Phoney the Octopus became a symbol on sweat shirts, T-shirts, posters, and games because he used 8 'hands'. His friend, Phonetta, even fell in love with Phoney the bachelor, in our imaginations. Phoney was used to develop a card game, played like Old Maid...the Old Bachelor. We hope you will enjoy our pages on the Web. We will try to update it often, as I ( at age 70) learn more about computers:) :) :) We appreciate all who have contributed to the development of Nu-Vue-Cue. |
