Neal's Corner
Howdy! and welcome to Neal's Corner.  In these pages we will share the stories that show "how to's" and news from around my personal area in the world of Buggies.

This year I have seen some really good things going on in our local world.  Alot of great Buggies and lots of new friends and members to our little group.  I fill a need to express a deep gratitude to those of you who help to keep our club and activities going - GREAT JOB!

Now on to the project at hand.  When getting started on my project I spend a lot of time looking at all the details and ideas of my fellow buggy friends.  I will admit I do not have the total "in the know" ability.  Many of our Texas Manx Club members and sponsors show remarkable talent when it comes to creativity.

While on a topic ( parts ) I would like to make  a quick comment on parts. I have a son who trades and his friends trade Honda parts all the time or they buy used parts all the time - and make matters sometimes worse, they get someone who knows nothing about a Honda to install it.  I know of three really good and honest places to buy parts.  These are:  Aircooled Parts.com,  Hawkeye Buggies, and Quailitat.  Now I am talking mechanical parts and not a buggy body only.  If I add Buggy Bodies I would also include Texas Buggys as both Hawkeye, and Texas make excellent packages ( they are different designs but have what ya need )

I firmly believe if you want something that will work and work, then you need to go with quality parts all the way around.  I will say that the sponsors on the front page of our Texas Manx Club Web Site are all there because they adhear to that motto - qualitiy and dependability.

I know the magazines are full of ads and so most people look at the pricing.  However, when things get shipped mail order a lot of the times all the pieces are not there.  Then you have go hunting for everything that is missing.  I know of one place that does not cut corners on anything they ship.  AircooledParts.com always ships complete parts.  A lot of guys think if you don't have it in stock and it has to be ordered that they feel they can't wait.  Or they order it and when it comes in they have changed their mind and the vendor gets stuck with it. I feel that is like coming home to dinner to find the wife ate without you and told to suck it up and just go to bed.

I have gotten parts from Qualitat over the counter, sometimes I have to wait for it to come in, but I know what I'm getting when I get there.

I have ordered from Hawkeye Buggies, sometimes I have to wait but some times not ( like the other day ), but well worth the wait cause I know it is right when it gets here.

I order a lot of the time from Aircooledparts.com cause I don't want to travel or can't travel ( I spend a lot of time healing from all kinds of things ).  He lives just down the street from me so I see what is going on over there.  He must be on the phone twenty times a day.  I get the same price there as all of you and I am not unhappy with anything I get.

So remember guys and gals, these guys work hard to help each of us.  I will always buy from someone who supports our club and is happy to provide us with help.  I know there are a hundred places out there but remember:  "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR" and sometimes that help in the store is a young kid who just sold your order to his friend who needed it. ( after you drove twenty miles to get you order ). I had that happen to me right here in Dallas - last time I ever went in that store.

We will be installing a compu fire pointless ignition in a new distributor.  The plan is to have the easiest long lasting system around.  I bought mine from aircooled parts.  I got one of those compu fires from aircooled parts 6 years ago and never had any trouble with the distributor ever since.  No points to change, no capacitor to change.  I am going with all new stuff to be the most unique engine I can.  I have put a lot ot thought in this for more than a year to make this buggy  just the way I want to live with it.
