America Still Stands!
On September 11, 2001 (9-11) America was terrorized by a vicious foe.  A foe who has had no remorse about what he has done.  I refuse to write his name because I fear it is fame that this foe wants.  It is fame that he will get nonetheless, but not at the hands of this writer.  On 9-11 America entered a new chapter in its illustrious history.  I only hope that this chapter is long because I have felt and seen numerous counts of new found strength and kindness.  I see flags waving in the air.  I see people being courteous while in line.  Accounts of road rage have gone down.  The popularity of film stars and "reality" shows have plummeted.  Now a person looks for character and seem less likely to look for appearance.  Although what happened on 9-11 was a terrible thing something good has happened because of this horrific tragedy.
In saying this I neglect to state that America is a new utopia because of the terrorist acts.  No country is perfect, nor will there ever be a perfect country.  Today we still see intolerance of other races, religions, sexual orientations, and genders.  PEOPLE!  We are all one!  We cannot skirmish amongst ourselves.  Sure there are those that are glad this happened, but don't become like them and be angry at them.  Yes, there are people in this country who do not look like you or speak like you, but this does not make them less than you or negate their views of life.  Instead of punishing someone because of their appearance, religious practices, or views sit back and try to understand how that person feels and why.  Sounds hard, huh?  It wouldn't if more of us would think like this.  Practice tolerance and the world will be a better place for it.  Remember, we are all brothers and sisters no matter what we look like or what kind of religion we practice or what our views are.
