...on the loose up ahead!
Watch out for your toes....your heart...and your funny bone.
Brand New!! Please come by and see my new dachshund page as of August 2002. See wiener dogs hiking at the Pacific ocean, terrorizing small lobsters and plaster deer, moving their home and murdering rats (ugh!). All this and more at Dachshunds Rule! My
husband Joe holds up Ms Shakti after she has rolled thoroughly in some disgusting
muddy thing she found on the trail we were hiking on. Doxies love to roll on
mysterious smelly objects. They hate the baths that result, though.
All is forgiven
later, as you can see. Shakti kisses Joe on the nose as he soaks in the hot
tub at our rented house here on San Juan island. Dachshunds love to kiss humans
on the face.....something that Joe tolerates far better than I do. BTW note
the water of the Straits of Juan de Fuca and the snowcovered Olympic mountains
in the background behind the "two lovers" at the hot tub.
Wotan and Shakti are not related, but they have been together most of their
lives and are very attached to each other. We call them "the old married couple".
Wotan is nine this month and Shakti will be eight soon.
We often go to the beaches in Oregon and now here in Washington. Many other dogs also run free there so our three dachshunds often meet up with "strange" dogs. Shakti is very afraid of all dogs (except dachshunds....she does not think a dachshund is a dog.) so she stays away from them. Wotan and Gaudi like to meet all dogs, though, and never notice if the other dogs are big. This day we met a group of women on the beach who had five giant poodles. Here you can see Wotan (red arrow points at him) trying to sniff two of the huge dogs at once.
What about our third dachshund? His name is Gaudi -- here
is a nice photo of him taken at sunset on a beach. He's a real speed demon and
constantly onthe move, so a very hard subject to take pictures of. We love him
just as much as the other two doxies, but we just don't have as many photographs
of him. He looks pretty here with the red light of the sunset highlighting his
fur.
This photo of me and two of the dachshunds was taken last year. It shows how difficult it canbe to use the Internet or create web pages when you have two dachsies asleep on your lap much of the time.
It looks like Joe is about to step off this staircase
right into the deep and cold ocean waters of Waldport Bay.....and Wotan and
Shakti will have none of that. They strain to get back up those steps and won't
be part ofany gag photo. Dachshundshatewater for the most part and try
to avoid it (especially smooth coated doxies, it seems).
Joe holds Wotan while attempting to type at the computer at our rental house here on San Juan island. As anyone with a dachshund can tell you, it's hard to type while holding a doxie but sometimes you have no choice!
Little G (as we call Gaudi) kisses Joe on the nose.....a foul
Occasionally we take a trip where the dachsies can't join
us because of airplane rides and such. Wotan shows us what he thinks of that
when we come back home. Here he is sitting in our luggage....he wants to be
sure he is taken with on thenexttrip.
We often take our dachshunds on long hikes. Here they are crossing a log bridge over the McKenzie river in Oregon.
This page updated April 2003. All contents ©Copyright 2003 I'm finding that I've become overwhelmed by the amount of email I get from my dachshund web pages and am embarrassed at how long it takes me to reply as I rarely get on AOL to read email. So as of March 2003 I have removed my email link and instead have a guestbook link where you are welcome to come by and leave comments or questions or just read what other dachshund lovers have written. Sign my Guestbook!Read my Guestbook! Want to take a trip back in time to when Wotan and Shakti were young puppies? Then stop by and see the web page I made in the Spring of 2002.
There are quite a few cute portraits
and action photos of them as dachshund puppies. The text tells of how we got the names Wotan and Shakti, what they mean and also talks about the defect Wotan was born with (which hasn't held him back in his life). Please stop by and see it at Dachshund Puppies: Wotan and Shakti
Stop by to see a web page with over 20 large photographs and detailed text covering part of our almost month long trip to Europe in May of 2001. Come see it at Germany and Belgium 2001 I have recreated some of my dachshund pages that were on NBCi now and put them back online on AOL. Come and check them out! Stop by and see 21st Century Dachshunds View a number of action photographs of our dachshunds in very large rabbit burrows. Also see 3 doxies face off in a challenge against 3 swans as well as other humorous photos. See dachshunds licking horses, sleeping on plants, protecting humans from ferry boats and more at 10 Funny Dachshund Photos
Another web page of mine tells the story in photos and text of Wotan's recovery from major surgery. Some of the photos are sad and some are funny. It ends happily though with Wotan back in the pink of health now. Check it out at Wotan's Recovery Page: Triumph of a Dachshund
Also take a look at the first web page I did all on one theme and that tells a little story. I think the captions I came up with for this one are more creative too. Come by and see it at: Wiener Dog Takes the Money and Runs
Wiener dogs stare down Great Danes, get stuck in logs and blender jars, rips apart enormous carpets, swim in large ponds, hike on the edges of cliffs, help sift compost, and eat lots of pig ears. All that and more can be seen in action photographs at the new page Dashing Dachshunds.
Come by and see my very first HTML code "hand-made" web page and the subject is...dachshunds of course! This was my first page with animated graphics, and is also my first dachshund page with lots of text...stories of some of the funny antics our three dachshunds have been involved in. You can also see many photos of Gaudi, our adopted doxie, as well as more of Wotan and Shakti. It's all here at:Dachshund Stories and Photos It's NOT about dachshunds....it's an inspiring page of poems about nature. You can find it at Well Known Nature Poems
Fellow dachshund owners...are you interested in posting to other dachshund owners about doxies? There is a good message board (not mine) for dachshunds at: Dachsie's Bulletin Board. Often there is funny and helpful dachshund info from other doxie fans. It's a great place to check out after you are finished visiting my dachshund photo web pages! |
