It was through the insight of Brother Eugene King and a few other members from the various Lodges who felt the need of another great Lodge to take form and grow in the Kansas City area. At that time, Brother King was serving as the District Deputy Grand Master of the second district. It was through his efforts, along with the first officers of the Lodge, that Fred W. Dabney Lodge #24 was organized. It was more than an honor for any Lodge to be named after such a great man who contributed much to Masonry and served as Grand Master of the Jurisdiction of Missouri, F. & A. M., from 1925 to 1939, namely the late Fred W. Dabney. The Fred W. Dabney Lodge #24 Charter was received at the Annual Communication Grand Lodge Session held in Springfield, Missouri on July 10, 1953, under the hand and seal of Grand Master Dr. Waite H. Madison. Our first Worshipful Master, Brother Leslie Bowen, played a major role in getting the Lodge started and on its way forward. It was through his leadership as Worshipful Master (1953-57) that we began to grow and find a place of respectability in the second district. The first officers along with Brother Bowen were: Williams Andrews, Senior Warden; Charles Love, Junior Warden; William Hill, Secretary and Elmer Reed, Treasurer. Fred W. Dabney Lodge #24 is a small Lodge in the Second Masonic District, but it stands tall along side the eight other Lodges. In 1991, the Most Excellent Grand High Priest, Brother Delmas Montgomery; the Right Eminent Grand Commander, Brother Rodney Terry; and the Grand Worthy Patron, Brother Richard Richardson, all served at the same time and all are members of Fred W. Dabney Lodge #24. In the Masonic year 2000 - 2001, Brother Terry is now serving as Senior Grand Warden for the State of Missouri and its Masonic Jurisdiction, Grand Chief Engineer for the Grand Court Order of Cyrene and the Chief Engineer of Queen Martha Court. Brother Richardson is now serving as Imperial Deputy Director Group Supervision, Imperial Director of Talent and Scholarship (A.E.A.O.N.M.S.), Grand Generalissimo of the United Grand Commandry Knights of Templar, District Deputy Right Eminent Grand Commander, Worthy Patron for two O.E.S Chapter, Worthy Joshua for Pritchard Court Heroins of Jericho and Chief Engineer of Excelsor Court of the Order of Cyrenes. Past Master Derek Majors is also President of the "Rough Ashlars" (Youth Support Group) of the Second Masonic District and the Vice President of the Master and Wardens Council Second Masonic District. Fred W. Dabney Lodge #24 sure has its pillars of knowledge.
