Reason #2
As you may have anticipated by now, I have a solution that significantly reduces the difficulty of removing stubborn and confined oil filters. It's called The Universal Oil Filter Wrench (UOFW for short).
No doubt you're saying to yourself, "Uh huh, just what I thought...now comes the sales pitch". Well, not to worry. The UOFW is not for sell from this site to the general public. Instead, it is an introduction to the tool companies and manufacturers that will be reading your complaints (or praises) of their products. So, you can relax now, there'll be no arm-twisting to purchase anything here.
It is, however, a vital necessity to prove the introduction of a new product or idea. And as all independent inventors know (or should know) it's not enough to merely knock on the door of a large corporation, hand them your new idea, and expect them to be as excited as you are without some kind of support that the idea is even needed or wanted.
I have personally been turned down on three occasions by oil filter wrench manufacturers with the standard industry reply, "Thank you for your invention submission, however, oil filter wrench technology is currently available to the market." And to add insult to injury, it was obvious the package I sent them wasn't even opened for examination! Why? Because as far as they are aware of, we consumers must be tickled pink with their "current oil filter wrench technology"!
Defending tool manufacturers for a moment, the cost of tooling, fabrication, and related marketing concerns is nothing to be taken lightly. Without adequate feedback from their customers demonstrating the need of an improvement in a particular field, and consequently a profitable market to support the improvement, tool manufacturers have little incentive to pursue newer ideas beyond their existing investment.
It's no exaggeration to say that I have not met or spoken to a single person who's changed their own motor oil and filter without them bitterly complaining about the poor performance of the various oil filter wrenches they have used.
That's a lot of people, and only the ones I've talked to, not the mention the countless car enthusiast bulletin board posts I've read on the Internet complaining of the same thing! Unfortunately, the oil filter wrench complaints submitted to those bulletin boards tend to get lost in the shuffle of more general issues when the web site is of a less specific topic.
If I were, for example, trying to convince a tool company executive that current oil filter wrenches are not meeting the needs of their customers, how would I be able to prove it? He or she's certainly not going to spend their valuable time sifting through endless post threads at various web sites looking for a complaint!
Therefore, it is the intention of this specialized web site to develop a direct channel between your oil filter wrench complaints and the attention of the tool companies that manufacture these inadequate devices.
It is my hope that armed with your oil filter wrench complaints, I (and possibly other independent inventors) can at least attain the necessary "foot in the door" to awaken and introduce tool companies to newer concepts of oil filter wrench technology.
Any developments in my relationship with them beyond that of course will depend entirely upon the genuine merits of the UOFW.
Naturally, I'm rather enthusiastic with the performance of the UOFW. It's low profile characteristic allows it to be maneuvered in the most confined of spaces. And due to the nature of its gripping technique by applying equal pressure around the entire circumference of the oil filter, the UOFW produces a surprisingly powerful, yet non-desructive grasp.
And being true to its name, the UOFW will fit all oil filter sizes.
As mentioned earlier, the UOFW is not currently being sold to the general public. However, please take a few extra moments to examine it on the link provided below and let me know what you think. Your thoughts and comments are always welcome. And don't forget..file a complaint...please!
Thank you, and happy motoring!
