Join us at Tom and Nancy Hall’s Indiana estate for our annual OVAHC picnic and meeting.  This takes the place of our usual Monday meeting in August.  Bring your bathing suit and towel, your fishing rod and gear, and any yard toys you would care to share.  Also, bring your favorite dish to share.  Call Nancy and tell her what you are bringing 812-637-2468 (not long distance).  The meat and drinks will be provided by the club.

Text Box: OVAHC Driver's Training Sessions

Here is the exciting news for the 2007 season.  The location is the Live Oaks Vocational School near Milford, Ohio. If you need to enter the address into an online map search to more precisely adjust your driving time allowance it is: 5956 Buckwheat Road - Milford, OH 45150-2287. You must be there before 11:00 AM. We want to begin soon afterwards and will not accept more than thirty drivers or those arriving late. The fee is $15 per driver.  All drivers will be asked to work the grid when they are not in the driving lineup.  Everyone including spectators will need to sign our waiver form.

Take exit # 57 from I-275 and go east for only three miles on Route 28. (towards Blanchester) using the bypass to avoid extra traffic lights. Turn right on Buckwheat Road just next to the Circle K gas station.  Stop here if you want to add 5 pounds air or more to your tires to improve cornering.  We do not have any vending machines or drinks for sale on the grounds.  Please bring a cooler and of course, no alcohol is permitted.  The Circle K has restrooms and snacks available.  Go down Buckwheat 1/4 mile and turn left into the school driveway within sight of Circle K. This is an event in which you can use your daily driver or bring your sports car. Your car just needs to be in normal operating condition. Make sure the lug nuts are properly torqued and the battery strapped down. You may want to clean out your car and trunk to eliminate loose objects which could shift around.  Helmets are required for drivers and passengers, but can usually be borrowed there.  If you would rather just watch IT'S ABSOLUTELY FREE!  Bring a lawn chair and be there around noon when the wheeling and squealing starts. This event is designed to be a safe, fun way to enjoy your automobile and also to share in the excitement of timed competition.  All cars will be inspected for safety reasons. We will be looking for: securely bolted down batteries, securely tightened wheel lug nuts, broken glass or lenses, properly inflated tires, front end wheel play, loose items in the trunk and interior, working coolant recovery systems, functional seat belts, and helmets of the correct rating.  We do want to keep safety first in mind at our events.  No dangerous driving or recklessness is tolerated. Please do your own inspection prior to the day of the driving sessions so you are not disappointed if we find something wrong.  We operate near a residential section and ask that the exhaust system be street legal and reasonable as far as noise goes.  Your cooperation is needed to allow us to maintain our good standing.

Three new rules for this year have been instituted to insure a "family oriented gymkhana" atmosphere at the Ohio Valley Austin - Healey Club events.  1.  Please use street legal tires driven to the lot because no tire changing is allowed.  2.  No trailered cars entered unless they are vintage European.  3.  Gates will remain closed until about 10:30 AM for all except setup workers.  Thank you for your continued cooperation.

Any make and model is invited and welcome. The two remaining dates are August 5 and September 2, 2007.  These are "rain or shine" and I'm told wetter is better to learn how your car handles in extreme conditions. If you have questions or comments you may contact me, Dale Ballinger at (859) 384-1345 or dlb55ah@cs.com. Won't you join us?
