ITS MY HOMEPAGE
Some web sites try to sell ya stuff. Some are there to prove something or support a life style or some idea. This site is just here to answer the question: "What's happening this weekend, Ed?" I've started this homepage for my friends and fellow riders, but welcome any biker in SoCal to use it. Many riding groups meet in the morning with no idea where they are going to ride that day and end up riding to the same places over and over. Hopefully now they will have some additional ideas. Since I live and ride in SoCal, I will mostly list local events for day rides or over-nighters. How long will I do this? As long as it is still fun.
QUALIFICATIONS
There is no charge or requirement for posting. I will post any event which is not illegal.
However, the immoral and fattening ones are ok. If I find a flyer, I will scan it. I will not put up a link to any site which carrys adult material.... without a warning.
THE LINKS
Some sites won't let you link directly to the event page, they want you to see their intro page or sign in or some other thing. You have to go to the homepage and search for your event listing. I will indicate sites like this with a star (*) after them. Also I will do this if the URL is just too long to type in the link box or exceeds my attention span.
THE SITES
The average motorcycle site has a life span of about 6 months. As a result there are a lot of dead links, disappeared sites and many which list events from years ago. Some will "hijack" your browser and send you to a porno site or an ad site. If this happens, I will un-post the URL but I don't check every link, every day. Some pages are built on "freebie" sites. These typically have tons of popups, popunders and ads. If you have a popup killer or high speed access....no sweat. Otherwise be aware that a few of these sites are on: Geocities, angelfire (the worst), tripod and delphi.
DISCLAIMER
Events have a habit lately of cancelling at the last minute. If I find out I will post the cancellation. Also, I have no way to vet the events. Please contact the event sponsors to verify time, place and cost before attending.
AOL doesn't provide enough space for me to post extended descriptions. I have room to list just 100 events. If I don't like an event, I won't post it. I don't give negative reveiws but if I really like an event I will make a short comment. Most events are open to all bikes and bikers, especially charity runs. I will also post festivals and events which are not motorcycle specific but which are fun to ride to and attend as a group.
CLUB EVENTS
Most clubs post their club rides on their own sites and in their newsletters. So if you are a patch holder you probably already know what your club is doing. I only list events where 'all are welcome'. The exception to this is HOG sponsored events, please check with the organizers before attending. If you are a ride-coordinator or club organizer and are looking for ideas try some of the festivals I've listed.
