The funny story behind this foal is that she was planned since July of 2000 when I bought Scarlett. It took me forever to pick out the perfect stallion and this one came along by accident. I made Scarlett's every vet appointment, made sure I did everything right, read up on horse deliveries and the signs to look for, etc. On Sunday, June 13, 2004 I got home from church and checked on Scarlett, because that morning she showed no interest in her breakfast. She was dripping milk. I knew that it would be the day. As the day grew on, she got more restless, ate less and less and really showed signs that the time was now. That night around nine, I got my sister, Megan to help me string the tarp over the corral because it had started to rain a bit. By that time, she was pacing with contractions. She was really, really in labor, then at midnight, she completely stopped! Stopped dripping, stopped pacing, everything! This was my first foal delivery, I did not know if this was normal or just a "false alarm." Just to be safe, I waited an hour and still nothing happened. I turned her loose figuring it was just close, but not time quite yet. The next morning at exactly six in the morning, as my Uncle tells me, the foal was on the ground. I MISSED IT!! Its pretty neat that the name Aurora is actually the name of a Greek goddess, the "goddess of the dawn", and then right at dawn she was born!

Isn't this the cutest picture. She wasn't nursing or anything...she was hiding and looking at us from the other side of Scarlett!
