I got this beautiful Winter Parasol at Cross Seeds located on Highway 61 in Charleston. This is plant was started in one of Carter & Holmes many greenhouses in Newberry, South Carolina.

I Keep my plants indoors under fluorescent lights. My Dad gave me two shelves on his FloralLight Cart.

Saintpaulia's are mainly known as African Violets. This type of plant belongs to the plant family, Gesneriacea. These plants were discovered in East Africa in the 1890's. A few years later, Germany & Britain started commercially producing African Violets. During the 1920's, Saintpaulias were being produced in the US. There are many hybrids available. Sizes range from large, standards, semi-miniatures, miniatures and micro-miniatures. Colors include Pinks, Reds, Corals, Blues, Purples, Whites and multicolors.
