Basic Facts

Dear Friend
Can you believe its spring again and time to get out the bike to ride in MS 150's. Last year I ended up riding in all 10 bike tours, totaling 1104 miles. Thanks to the drug company for the Champion of Courage grant program and to Richardson Bike Mart for a donation of a bike; I was able to see the country by a bike seat! Wow, I still can't believe I did it. I'm not sure how many bike tours I will do this year. Texas has 6 MS 150's and I have signed up for the first two. I would love to do all 6, but a couple of them are in the heat of the summer. Thanks for your support last year. I couldn't have done all that bicycling without the support of my friends and family. Thank you so much.

The onset of symptoms usually occur between the ages of 20 and 40 (I was 38), making MS one of the two most common neurological diseases affecting young adults. The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS cannot be predicted -- symptoms range from tingling and numbness to paralysis and blindness. MS is a devastating disease because people live with its unpredictable physical and emotional effect for the rest of the lives. There are four medicine that treat MS and I'm on Betaseron. The medicine has slowed down the attacks for me but its not a cure.

In writing this letter to you. I'm also asking for your support in giving generously to the National MS Society on my behalf. As I ride, or attempt to ride 150 miles, your sponsorship will inspire me to cross the finish line! Whatever you can do to contribute will matter--it all adds up! Your check should be made payable to the National MS Society. Mail to Pam Hensley, 8220 Walnut Hill Lane, #013, Dallas TX 75231. I'm a fighter and I'm fighting MS every way I can. Thank you for help the MS Society find the necessary research to find a cure for this devastating disease.
