The names of the group members are Mike Shinoda, Chester Bennington, David Farrell(Phoenix), Brad Delson, Joseph Hahn, and Rob Bourdon. Mike was born in Agoura, California on February 11th, 1977. Chester was born in Phoenix, Arizona, on March 20th, 1976. David was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts, on February 8th, 1977. Brad was born in California on December 1st, 1977. Joseph was born in California on March 15th, 1977. Rob was born in California, on January 20th, 1979. Mike and Brad were High School friends and decided to start a band called Xero. Mike then met Joseph when going to school at the Art Center College of Design. The lineup switched around and they adopted a new name, "Hybrid Theory." After some time they ended up getting rid of their old singer, Mark Wakefield, and then set up a search for a new singer. They sent demo tapes to their friends and asked if they wanted the job. Chester had just bought a house out in Phoenix, Arizona, when he recieved a tape. That exact night, Chester called and said he would take the job. After he became part of the group they started recording. The first record they made was called "Hybrid Theory EP."
After playing at Los Angles "The Whisky" they signed up with Warner Bros. Records. After joining, their name was changed to aviod a court battle with another band called "Hybrid." So they changed their name to Linkin Park.
