The Parrot Station Rescue
We are a small non profit shelter in Battle Creek, Michigan,  dedicated to the well being of companion parrots.  Due to a lack of understanding these magestic creatures, irresponsible breeding, and improper parrot ownership, rescues across the country are over flowing with former family pets.  At PSR, we rescue any parrot in need, either from neglect, abuse, personal circumstance, and owner surrender.  Finding these birds a ""forever" home that is in the best interest of the bird is our main objective whether it is with our flock or an adoptive home.
Is A Parrot Right for You?
1.  Have you investigated WHICH parrot is right for you and/or your family?
2,  Have you acquired an avian veterinarian? (yes - they go to the vet, and YES they need one that does birds.)
3.  Have you researched parrot diet, specific to the bird you are interested in?
4.  Do you have a few hours a day to devote to your parrot?
5.  Do you have money for vets, cage, toys and perches?
6.  Are you expecting life changes in the near future that could affect the stability of a companion parrot?  New job, new home, babies, divorce, are all "reasons" people surrender their birds.

Doing proper research before - you get a parrot will save you from making a serious mistake for you and for an innocent bird.   Sharing your life with a parrot is an enormous comittment, much like having a child.  There are many great books, web sites, and online forums, that offer valuable resources to parrot owners.  The more knowledge you have, the more successful your relationship will be.
