**He was born 17 July 1847. He was a Pvt. in Capt. Wm. Graves Co. He enlisted in August of 1863 & served as clerk in the enrolling office at Elyton,AL.  He was only 16 yrs. old at the time of Enrollment. He served for a period of 1 yr. & 9 months.
At the time of his death on 14 July 1930, he was living at 722 4th. Court West, Birmingham,AL. He & his 2nd. wife, Lenora, are buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Jefferson Co,AL.**

William A. was the son of Willis A. & Gussie ELLIS of Blount Co,AL.

Jesse W. ELLIS was the son of Reuben & Matilda FOUST ELLIS & the father of Augusta "Gussie" ELLIS. He m. 1st. to Nancy MONTGOMERY. She was the dau of George W. & Assena HENDRICKS MONTGOMERY.

Reuben was b. 1812 S.C. & d. 1876 Blount Co., m.  Matilda FOUST, b. 1821 Smith Co,TN d.1889 Blount Co,  was the dau. of Philip E. FOUST & Mary ROE.  Reuben & Matilda are bur., along with many other family members,  in 1st. Methodist Church Cem, Blountsville. Reuben was Capt. of his own Regiment in the Civil War. He was wounded & had to retire his position.

Jesse ELLIS  & Hannah MURPHREE, dau of Solomon MURPHREE, were the parents of Reuben.
