I am researching my families in the Southeastern United States. Families include: Hendricks, Manning, Jackson, Ward, Copeland, Bush, Freeman, Dious/Dyess, Nettles, Wilkinson, Deese, Copeland, Jones, and many others. These families mostly migrated from NC to GA and AL and eventually to Florida. The Wards came from KY to TN to Florida. I am always interested in exchanging information.

Caulie Hendricks (1890-1972) was my grandfather. His parents were William Henry Clay Hendricks (1843-1922) and Levicia Ann Copeland (1845?-1915). Caulie was born in Lowndes County, Georgia and grew up in Wellborn, Suwanee County, Florida. He was a trolley driver and later a bus driver in Jacksonville, Florida. He served in the infantry in France in WWI. Mary Alberta Ward Hendricks (1888-1965) was my grandmother. She was a teacher and was born and raised in Jennings, Hamilton County, Florida.

These are my Great-Grandparents. That's my grandmother Mary Ward at far right. Her brother, William David (Dave) Ward is the baby in his mother's lab. Dave Ward was lost at sea during WWI on the USS Cyclops. Andrew Jackson Ward (1855-1925) was son of Rev. David F. and Jane Marler Ward. He was born in Rhea County, TN and came to Florida in 1860's. Missouri Arkansas Bush Ward (1860-1938) was born in Lafayette County, Florida, daughter of William R. and Eliza Jones Bush who came to Florida from Barbour County, Alabama in the 1840's. Please contact me if you are interested in any of these surnames, particularly in the south GA, north Florida area.
