PAWS of Coronado announces a new program, "A Litter Free Coronado" to reduce the unwanted kitten population in Coronado. This Spay & Neuter program is available to all cats residing within the city limits of Coronado. The program is funded by PAWS and here is how it works:
If you own a cat or are a caretaker for a stray/feral cat that needs to be spayed or neutered, & the cost of this procedure has prevented you from doing so, call Louise the PAWS Program Coordinator at 619-435-8247. Leave your name and telephone number and mention the "Litter Free Coronado" program.
The PAWS Program Coordinator will return your call as soon as possible and ask a few simple questions to verify eligibility for the program. Proof of residency is required. If qualified, a voucher good for 60 days will be sent for one spay or neuter at no cost. These services will be provided by two veterinarians in Coronado: Coronado Veterinary Hospital and Crown Veterinary Hospital. With in 60 days from the voucher date, the cat can be taken to the assigned Veterinary Hospital for the spay/neuter procedure.
One of the mission statements of PAWS of Coronado is to encourage spay and neuter programs. With the cooperation of these two wonderful Veterinary Hospitals working with PAWS of Coronado, it is our hope that Coronado's population of unwanted kittens will be reduced. This year alone between April and August, PAWS found homes for 40 unwanted kittens, but our volunteers were overworked fostering and caring for these animals. Please join us in keeping down the unwanted kitten population in Coronado and call today for your spay/neuter voucher.
