August 30, 2001 Our BEAUTIFUL Duke Was Gone~ He ONLY lived to begin with because he was stopped from going to slaughter. Duke caught his right leg in a pole fence and shattered his shoulder. He was in SO much pain. The vet said the humane thing to do was to let him go. I held and rubbed him as he died. He is now resting in our pet cemetary. Duke will NEVER be forgotten. I look forward to seeing him again at Rainbow Bridge. 150 went to canneries, only 95 were rescued.
Here is what Duke and Dutchess looked like when they first arrived here. They had lung infections and were a MESS. Our pets rarely look good when they come in. Never judge a book by it's cover!
Dutchess was left alone for the first time in her life. She was just going WILD. I called Helen with Wyoming State Horse Rescue. She had just received a call from a gal in Cody, WY who wanted to put a horse with a broken shoulder into a rescue home as a companion.
BIG Wheatie arrived in style at Chugwater, WY at about 3 P.M. September 1. He was transported by Ron Brault. THANK YOU. Wheatie is now home.
We were amazed at how pretty and SWEET he was. He acted much more mature than the young three years that he was. He walks with a slight limp but we don't care.
Wheatie and Dutchess are actually kissing each other....aaawwww!
Now Dutchess will have someone to share her life and her barn with. She is rolling over with excitement.
Dutchess REALLY is rolling over!
This is Dancer. She has joined Wheatie and Dutchess until she found a forever home. A sweet young girl not even two years old. Her Mother was headed to a slaughter house with her inside when she was rescued. UPDATE: 6/25/03 After ONLY being here since April. Look how two months has changed Dancer. As you can see by the following picture, she is growing into a beautiful girl. Update: Dancer was adopted and now resides in California!
The following is an updated picture of Wheatie taken June 2003. He is also better looking than ever!
Click the following picture of Tobi to read about her sad story and the story of Candi and baby Spirit. PLEASE help with their expenses.
