About the Author

I began writing this essay shortly after 9/11. I have attempted to provide background information and analysis to explain to the average American why I believe that this tragic event is related to the historical Tragedy between the Israelis and the Palestinians. Since I have found that most Americans are sorely lacking in a balanced historical understanding of the related facts, combined with lacking a balanced exposure to relative analyses, I have included a large number of quotations with their sources given. I’ve tried to present how the Arabs view this Tragedy.

I believe that our American mainline news media has defaulted in not providing a balanced coverage of this Tragedy over a long period of time, especially during the forty years since the 1967 Six Day War. It is for this reason that many of my information sources come from outside this media.

My primary motivation in writing this has been based on my twelve years spent living and working in the Middle East, during the 1960s and 1970s, as an engineer in oil processing and refining. I became acquainted with Arabs in the Middle East by spending ten years first in Saudi Arabia (I was in Saudi Arabia during the Six Day War) then two years in Iran.
