The Reason for Being
For a very long time, there has been a need expressed by some HIV+ people to have a way to interact directly with one another in a comfortable and safe place.
Due to medications, we can lead a more physically active life. Some of the older ways of dealing with the disease progression (i.e. doctors and acute illnesses, support groups more attuned to death and dying issues), are not the primary focus now.
Many of us can lead a life free of life threatening situations...we can go about our day to day activities. However, it is still ever-present in the mind, that "I am HIV+". Many times we would like to forget that...and just be ordinary again. That is a reason we need to have a safe place for HIV+ people to be together and help alleviate the sense of aloneness that we can so quickly develop; and again be ordinary in each others company.

What its All About
POZabilities in Columbus is a group of HIV+ people who want a way to get together for any number of reasons, such as...conversation, learning about how someone else handles a situation, developing new friendships, looking for possible relationships, dating, or just getting out and getting it on with other people.
It is all as informal and non-judgmental as can be.There is no leader, facilitator, affiliation with any other organization or anything like that. All HIV+ people are welcome and encouraged come with what ever needs and desires you have, to find hope that we all need, and to fulfill your desires for yourself and to help others to do the same.
