I have been drawing and painting since I was 2 years old. In the mid-1970's I started to teach drawing classes and began researching the forgotten process of encaustic painting (see http://hometown.aol.com/PatPreble/art.html for examples of that work). Lately I have added paper making and book binding to the classes that I teach. I delight in seeing the expressions of joy on the faces of my students when they realize that they really can make things and that what they make is beautiful.

I believe everyone is an artist at heart. It is only the traumas of early childhood and lack of confidence and training which stop most people from being more creative than they are.
