    Review of Acts 21:17-24:27
Paul arrived in Jerusalem, was greeted by the brethren, and then warned of potential trouble (21:17-22).

While in the temple, Paul was seized by some Jews from Asia, who stirred up the whole crowd against Paul. Serious accusations were made against him (21:26-30).

As they were seeking to kill Paul, the commander, Claudius Lysias, heard of the uproar and came to the rescue. When he arrived, the Jews stopped beating Paul (21:31-33).

The commander then gave Paul a chance to address the crowd (21:39-22:21).

The Jews listened to Paul until he mentioned the Gentiles, but then there was another uproar (22:22-23).

The commander, unable to find out what the charges were against Paul, ordered that Paul be examined under scourging, but after learning of Paul's Roman citizenship, decided against it (22:24-29).

The commander then ordered that Paul appear before the Jewish council. The commander was trying to find out exactly what the charges were (22:30).

As Paul addressed the council, a dissension arose between the Pharisees and Sadducees when Paul mentioned the resurrection. Paul's life was once again in danger, and once again, the commander had to deliver him from the mob (23:1-10).

Some of the Jews began then to plot an ambush against Paul. Paul's nephew found out about the plot and got word to the commander (23:12-22).

The commander then sent Paul under armed guard to Caesarea, to see the governor Felix. Felix agreed to hear Paul when his accusers came (23:23-35).

Paul made his defense before Felix, but Felix decided to wait until Lysias came to make a decision (24:1-22).

Paul got an opportunity to preach to Felix and his wife, Drusilla. Paul preached about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come. Felix trembled at the message, but didn't act on it (24:23-25).

Felix continued to talk with Paul often, hoping that Paul might give him some money to release him. When Festus replaced Felix as governor, Felix left Paul bound, because he wanted to do the Jews a favor (24:26-27).
