Dear Praying Friends,
Greetings in the name of the Lord. My prayer is that this letter finds you all doing well and serving God. Here we are already a third of the way through 2003 and what a good start this year has had. The Lord has just been moving and blessing so much that I stand in awe at the work He has done. It excites me to be able to send this letter to give you the update.
The ministry at Mt. Meigs is running full tilt. We have had so many young men saved that I can’t even keep count. Nothing thrills my soul more than to see a young man get saved. Many have been saved in chapel, some have been saved in Bible studies, and we have had a couple saved on dorm to dorm visitation. Watch out devil, the Gospel has flooded Mt. Meigs. Not only are we having young men saved but we are seeing so many grow in the Lord. As many of you know Mt. Meigs is a long-term facility and most of our kids are there for a year or more. What an opportunity to get them settled in some good old-fashioned Bible Doctrine. We have more than 20 boys enrolled in the Rock of Ages Prison Ministries Bible College by correspondence. What a blessing it is to see them grow in the Lord. I pray that our church kids would get as excited about God and the Bible like some of these boys have.
It is such a blessing to see these young men hungry for the things of God and ready to make a stand for Jesus. As I walk across the campus during the week I frequently find my self engaged in good theological conversations with a group of boys. Their questions are not silly ones either. One young man has openly debated his teacher, in the Mt. Meigs School, between evolution and creationism. I know Christian kids in public schools that would not even try that. Another young man has organized a campus prayer group before school. Pray for him he has already met opposition. We even had a couple of boys preach one night. They did just as good as the preacher boys at youth camp. What a thrill to see some of these young men go from the pit to the pulpit! Keep praying as you see it is working, however for all these success stories there are still many left on the campus that still need to be saved and washed with the Word of God.
Praise the Lord! My wife Carolyn has not had a severe headache since my last letter. God has brought to us a victory. She is sleeping good and able to get her work done during the day. She has been searching the net for free books, studies, and Bibles for the campus. She has hooked us up with some good sources. Tract’s, we have tons! She has filled our tract rack at for the boys. They are always looking for new tracts and books to read. After all they have all the time in the world.
The ministry at the Autauga HIT program is still going great. Going there is one of my high points of the month. The kids there are mostly first time offenders with very tender hearts. Talk about a field ripe unto harvest. They have begun to build an open-air chapel in the facility and I am looking forward to preaching in it. The director said that when it was completed he thought I could really let it rip in there. The staff support there is excellent and we always have high attendance.
A special thanks to Brother Ronnie Roberts, Pastor of Anchor Baptist Church, and Brother Ralf Mims, Pastor of Harvest Baptist Church, for taking us on as one of their missionary families. A special thanks to Brother Boyd Woodward and the faithful people of Bible Baptist Church in Alabaster, AL for donating new pew Bibles for our chapel. We are so blessed to have friends like all of you.
I pray that this update has been a blessing and an encouragement to you. Your prayers and support are so appreciated. Without faithful supporters like you we could not reach these lost and dying children. Remember to pray for us as we will be praying for you. If you ever get the chance, come and see the great things the Lord is doing in this ministry. We would love to have you as our guest. We love you all and may God bless you richly for your faithfulness to the ministry He has allowed us to have.
Because He First Loved Us,
Missionary George E. Trapani
