Missions Update Spring 2004
Dear Praying Friends, Friday, August 06, 2004
1 Corinthians 4:2; “Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.” I pray that this newsletter finds all of you faithful in the service of God. Sorry that it has been so long since my last letter but so much has happened I pray that there is enough room in this letter to bring all up to date.
My wife and I have moved our home to Millbrook, Alabama so we can be closer to the ministries the Lord has called us to. With the rising cost of gasoline and wear and tear on our car it only made good sense. We were wasting too much of God’s money at the gas pump and not giving the ministry at Mt. Meigs the attention that those boys deserve. So we wanted to be good stewards so we prayed and asked the Lord to fix the problem. The Lord has provided us with a beautiful apartment right near the church and only 20 minutes from Mt. Meigs. He always seems to know best and always supplies!
The ministry at Mt. Meigs is going tremendously. Our chapel attendance is very high compared to last year. Usually in the summer participation goes down a lot but this year it has gone up. We have seen many young men saved and starting a life serving the Lord. We have created one monster we will call him Calvin. Calvin came to Mt. Meigs as a long-term inmate, could not read, and lost. He was saved not long after his arrival on the campus and man did he get saved. This young man is so on fire for the Lord it’s mind-boggling. The Lord has used the Bible and the Bible study that we offer to raise his reading level three grades. He has preached several times in the chapel and preached a memorial service in the school gym for one of the teachers. His desire for spiritual things has grown and grown. He also leads the singing in our weekly chapel service. It is amazing what God can do in a young mans life! 2 Corinthians 5:17; “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
The month of July is my anniversary month at Mt. Meigs and God sent me a special blessing. On July 15th Dr. Peter Ruckman came and preached to our boys. Those in attendance were tuned in to the service. Doc preached on four judgments and of course he drew his message. We saw the Lord save several. Praise the Lord! I even got to keep the picture. Bro. Ruckman even brought a couple of cases of his books and gave all 91 boys in attendance a set of four. They were thrilled!
We also took a group from one our supporting churches to youth camp for their first time. Man God blessed and wrought a work in all their hearts. What a joy it was to see God move. I believe in youth camp! I have seen the Lord do so much in the life of young people at youth camp. That is why I have decided to host my own week of camp next year. We already have four churches committed to bring their youth. My request to you is that you pray and see if the Lord would have you to bring your kids with us. Bro. David Wood will be our main preacher for the week. So be watching because I will be in touch soon.
Our revival with Steve Blankenship and Truth For Troubled Teens was a blast this year as well. The boys at Mt. Meigs always look forward to Bro. Steve coming to our campus and as always he did an excellent job.
Well, It was brief but I think I have hit all the highlights. Thanks to you all that support this ministry with prayer and financially. Without friends like you we could not complete the mission that the Lord has laid before us. We love you all.
Because He First Loved Us,
Missionary George E. Trapani
