Missions Update "Winter 2003"
March 15, 2004
Dear Praying friends,

I pray that this letter finds you all doing well and serving God with your whole heart. My wife Carolyn and I are overjoyed to tell you how our winter was and what great things the Lord has been doing on the Mt. Meigs Campus, our all boys’ juvenile facility.
The last few months have been blessed! As usual the fall kicked off with our Harvest Time Revival with Gulf Coast Prison Ministries where we saw many boys saved.  I host these revivals to challenge our regular chapel attendees and to draw in those who normally would not attend. We always see great results. Through the fall and winter months, attendance in our services was outstanding. It blesses my heart to stand in the pulpit and see the chapel full. I think back just three years ago to my first service when we had only 15 boys. Wow, look what God has done!
One of the blessings our revival produced is the desire in some of these young men’s hearts to preach the Word of God. Every month with five Thursdays we have “A Shotgun Preaching Service.” This is where I give an opportunity for the boys to preach.  The last time we had nine boys preach for four minutes apiece and man did they do a great job.  Most of the boys that preach are from our Bible School, so they have some great things to say. We sing a little, preach a little and shout a lot! Everyone always looks forward to this special service.
The Bible School is going great. Carolyn has done a great job getting it all organized and operating like clockwork. We have 78 students enrolled with more signing up everyday. So far we have had 25 saved while taking the first course on Salvation! Fourteen have graduated the 15-course study while 10 of those moved on to our Advanced Study! What a blessing it is to see these guys get excited about the things of God. This is just what we needed because the only hope they have after salvation is to learn the Word of God. Psalms 119:9;  “BETH. Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.”
Christmas was a lot of fun this year. We enjoyed serving Christmas dinner to all the boys, with the help of the Mt. Meigs Advisory/Chapel Board and some special church friends. I love to watch the faces of the boys as they come through and get a real Christmas dinner. Our Christmas service was also a good one in where we were able to give all the boys a personal journal as a present. Even those who did not come to chapel received a journal. Man does our God supply!
Thank you to those who prayed for our piano player Mrs. Myra Golden. She has been absent the whole winter due to surgery on her right hand. Please continue to pray for her as she recovers. We all miss her so much and cannot wait to see her smiling face at the piano again! Her husband Brother Ray has begun to come and help with the services on Thursdays. Please say a special prayer for him. He is truly a great friend and a big help to the ministry.
The New Year kicked off with a bang. Birmingport Baptist Church of Mulga Alabama had a Bible drive and sent us 150 new award Bibles to give to the boys. The first night we had them we gave away 48! Our kids are so hungry for the Word. Thank you Pastor Seale for having a heart for our boys. Rock of Ages Youth Division also came and kicked off the New Year with a great revival. The most memorable thing was the night a boy got his finger stuck in the communion cup holder on the back of the pew, and boy do I mean he got it stuck! We had to get a saw to cut him out. But, in spite of the devils commotion we still had many saved that service.
Carolyn has done it again! Check out our “New Hope for Troubled Youth” web sight at http://hometown.aol.com/preaching1611/myhomepage/index.html. She also included a page for our Mission Board and Faith Baptist Youth Camp. Looking for a place to take your teens? How about a week of camp? Check it out on the web and give Pastor Wood a call.  Your youth will never be the same!
Well my friends it is time to bring this letter to an end. Thanks for all your prayers, financial support and most of all your friendship. Please come to Mt. Meigs to see us sometime, we would love to show you around the campus.

Because He First Loved Us,
Chaplain George E. Trapani

Even so, it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven,
that one of these little ones should perish.
