Is it the story? Is it the cast? Is it the directing? These factors are important and many others as well. But to me, there has to be a special quality that makes a movie unique and one of kind. This could be depth in understanding of the material or depth in spiritual creativity. Individuals might interpret these "special qualities" in different ways, but the result is a movie that leaves a lasting impression on one.
