SYLLY SYLVIA was adopted from North Metro Atlanta Doberman Pinscher Rescue in March 1995 at 14 months of age. She was given up by a family who found her to be too much too handle. A delightful competitor in both obedience and agility, she was also named Purina's Fittest Dog of the City, 1997, Atlanta, GA.

Her rescue story can be found in Liz Palika's book, "Save That Dog" (an excellent rescue reference for the adopter) and her escapades have been documented numerous time in Doberman Quarterly where she has come to be known as "SYLLY SYLVIA". Her run-in with a "wild animal", ("Sylvia and Bernardo, the Doberman and the Goose") can be read in The 1999 Doberman Annual.

Sylvia is joy and grace and clown, all rolled into one splendiferous Doberman.
Sylvia was given a very nice, long show crop, but her first family was unable to get both to stand. One had always flopped over........until she turned five years old and put on a mink coat!!!! Suddenly, the ear began to stand. We don't really think it's the mink--we suspect the new natural diet might have may a difference.
MO came to live with us in April 1996, just before his 5th birthday. He had a good start in life, he had his CD before he was two as well as a bit part in the movie "The Real McCoy" starring Kim Basinger and Val Kilmer.

His owner then "retired" him and got a Golden Retriever. Unfortunately, the Golden, being an unneutered male, proceeded to make life miserable for Mo, attacking him over the next three years.
Another Golden and another Dobe were added to that household and Mo became "low dog" on a four dog totem pole. Finally, she decided to find another home for him.

He came to us overweight, out of shape and depressed, but Sylvia thought he was great!!!  She encouraged him to play, shared her toys, (sometimes laying them on his head while he was sucking on his "suckies"), and generally cajoled him into coming out of his shell.  They adore each other.

Mo is one cool dude......
He is having fun in agility and we are seeing a beautiful, confident, shapely Doberman emerging.  In 1997, he and Sylvia accompanied me to the Doberman National in Houston, TX, where Mo took second place in Novice Agility and passed the WAE with flying colors!  To this day, he continues to blossom and I credit love and patience, along with a natural diet, the use of flower essences and the help of animal communicators.

As I was relaying his troubled past to someone, they pointed out that the beautiful butterfly emerges from its ugly cocoon and never looks back, it just flys---MO SOARS!!!!!

Mo rarely competes these days as the stress of the ring became too much for him to handle, although he did make an appearance at the 1999 Doberman National in Boston, MA where he placed Fourth in the Veteran's Obedience Class.  That day he had a ball.  In April 2001, Mo proved that Dobes can do anything by passing the Herding Instinct Test!  He was on the sheep as if he were born to herd!  The followng day, he finished his Novice Agility Jumpers With Weaves title and then had a lovely run in Veteran's Obedience. His passion these days seems to be tracking, but when he's not 'on a track'......he loves to garden.
Initially, Mo didn't like the hose and couldn't understand why Sylvia loved to drink out of it.  Little by little, he became fascinated with the spray and began to get revved up whenever it was time to water the plants.  He'd chase the stream of water all over the yard.  One day, when I put the hose down to go turn it off, he picked it up and began spraying!  Syl and I got soaked!!  Eventually, he coordinated the stream so as to only water the plants.
And when he's not gardening........
he dresses up and takes Syl out for a 'night on the town'. (He cleans up quite nicely, don't you think?)
Syl and Mo's portraits were beautifully done by Laurie Rossa
