All About Me
I first started to learn about computers when I worked for the Daily News in Jacksonville, NC back in 1985. I really enjoyed working with them and every chance I got, I'd try to learn something about them.
Of course back than, they (the computers) were like dinosaurs considering what they are now. The next time I worked with computers was when I worked for Progressive Service Die Company in Jacksonville, NC also. Again, I learned a little more about them. When I moved from Jacksonville in 1993, I had been away from computers for a long time with jobs that didn't require computers but my interest in them still remained.
When I went to work for Syngertics here in the St. Louis, MO area, I decided that I wanted a computer of my own, plus my husband Rick, was going to be a Representative and start his own business. This I thought was the perfect opportunity to get one and I did. I got to do all his work for him on the computer.
At first I really screwed things up alot but I learned alot of valuable information from some very dear online friends. Between them and what I have learned myself, I feel very computer wise about it now.

My Online Life
About 4 years ago, I became a member of the Red Hat Society and started doing the emailings for the Chapter. After about 5 months, I decided to start my own Chapter, The Dazzlying Scarlet Dames, and was meeting alot of different ladies from other chapters. We started to exchanged email addresses and sending information about upcoming events of different chapters. I than decided to start my own Red Hat Mailing list and it's really been a great success. I send information about events that are both local and out of our region. I've really met alot of wonderful ladies from accross the United States.
In May of 2006, I was in a group that sent Alphas out to members once a week. The owner of the list decided to stop sending the alphas. Several of us who were doing the Alphas for the list started to talk amongst ourselves and just 2 days, I got this "brain storm" to start an Alpha list of my own.
I had been talking with this one lady, Nikki, about starting my own list and we both decided to become co-owners and started Alphas4Fun. With all of the Alphas that I had and with the help of Becky, the owner of the other group, Alphas4Fun was launched on June 1, 2006.
We decided to make it a closed list and would add memebers by invitation only. When we sent out a notice of starting the Group, the response was overwhelming. We started out with over 100 members. We have a great group of memebers and they have definitely made it a great group with all of their support and encouragement.
