Depot
Depot at Rosenberg, Texas
This depot was used jointly by the Gulf, Colorado & Santa Fe (ATSF in Texas) and the Texas & New Orleans (SP in Texas). The South side shown here displayed the Santa Fe cross while the North side showed the Sunset herald for the SP.

I used Evergreen styrene sheet to model this structure in N scale.
Working from photos, I estimated the measurements and laid out Grandt Line windows and doors to get the proper proportion before I cut the sides. After gluing the pieces together I painted it with Floquil Antique White to simulate the stucco sides and the roof is Floquil Lark Lt. Gray.

 The Prototype
This depot was built by the Santa Fe and served as the Union Station in Rosenberg Texas. It replaced a two story wood frame structure that stood a few hundred feet to the west. There was also a Fred Harvy hotel and dining room at one time but it burned and was never rebuilt due to the development of the railroad dining car. The depot shown here was demolished in the 1980s after Amtrak stopped using it.

 Notes
The outside waiting room must have had roll up doors. I have other photos showing it all opened up with benches inside.
Notice the nose of a Daylight painted Alco PA1 on the right under the water tower.
