One of the very interesting locks on the Trent Severn waterway in Canada. Your boat is raised / lowered in a large pan of water by a huge hydraulic ram. The pan is at the top on the right side of the structure.

Taylor at the helm. He was quite excited when I let him pilot "We 3" under a bridge with a tug pushing a dozen barges coming under in the opposite direction at the same time. And I didn't have to give him any instructions, it was all on his own.
