. Rayne was bore by Drago and Hope Darkchyld, within the kingdom of Avalon. Hope and Drago were well reknowned mages of that era. They were good friends with Math, the greatest Celtic mage there ever was. Drago and Hope passed on due to the battles of the Spell Wars, and they requested that Math take their child into his care. Math agreed and found that like Rayne's parents, Rayne was born with the gift of magic. Math taught Rayne much and saw that Rayne was a fast learner in the mystic arts. Rayne spent much of his childhood within the land of Crysalia where Math reared him around nature and taught him about the depth of life that surrounds everything. Math began his training when he was but a child, and he took in the knowledge very quickly. Math not only taught him magic, but he also instilled in him a variety of skills such as tracking, music, particularly the flute, the uses of the sword, and many other trademarks.
One day, at the age of 13, Rayne stumbled onto a cave hidden by the mists of Roknar and met an enchantress trapped within a cage. He managed to rescue the enchantress, but that story is reserved for another time. The enchantress was very greatful to be freed and gave Rayne a potion that would slow down his aging process tremendously. The downside to him taking the potion was that his body changed very slowly throughout the passage of time and even though he had the experience of the ages, his body was still very young. Math was a bit perterbed that Rayne took the potion without checking with him first, but due to this Math was able to teach Rayne the arts to his fullest potential, even though it was strange to see such a powerful mage with such a young body. Rayne was rumored by all the lands to be an equal to Math, but Rayne knew that he was hardly near Math's abilities. Math had powers that surpassed some greater gods in magical ability, and Rayne wanted, more then anything, to achieve Math's status. He was very ambitious and Math knew this. Math saw that Rayne persevered to achieve what he wanted, but he was very glad that Rayne had the sense not to side to the light or dark but to keep his senses and wits in check and not rush into things nor forget those who were taken advantaged of. Throughout his life Rayne lived and worked hard under the guidance of Math; he went through many trials that taught him harsh lessons but gave him the experience he needed to go through life.
After a century of teachings Rayne took off in search of knowledge or devices that may increase his level of magic, because he had learned all that was possible from Math. Even after all those years Rayne could not achieve Math's level of skill, so he set off for ways to increase his power. He bid his mentor farewell, and Math wished him the best of luck, and with a heavy heart he set off in his quest. It has been nearly three centuries since Rayne took that potion and he does not look a day older then nineteen; his powers have increased greatly since then. He has acquired a cloak and amulet that has greatly helped him in his quest, but how he acquired these items is a story for another time as well. He is still seeking to reach Math's level of power, but he knows he will have to go through much more before he can achieve such a level. As for his mentor, Math has always kept an eye on his apprentice, and til this day legends say that Math uses a spell, rumored throughout the lands as Soul Rift, that keeps Rayne's soul part of his, and through this he observes his apprentice's actions and adventures, but as they say it is but a legend.
The tales of his life before he came to Rhydin is something he keeps to himself. He reveals the darker remnants of his past only to those he trusts wholeheartedly. As for the story of his life thus far, they lie in the friends he's made and continues with life's ongoing journey. a
