When you join the Cruisin Rebels, you join an ever-growing family. We give you thoughts to ponder, answers to your most perplexing problems, family oriented events, ideas to spark everyone's interests, something to smile about after each meeting ***** and most of all, we give you friends you'll have for a lifetime.
Monthly meetings are the 2nd Wednesday of the month at Elmers Restaurant at 6:00.
Lot's of news & stories from the members each summer as there are dozens of shows now every weekend and this is where you'll hear where all the best shows are, what shows were great and what shows were stinkers.
Apparently a new club has started up - mostly those dissatisfied with our agreed-upon agenda and operation. This was begun by one person eaten up with jealousy and not being able to rule more than their little "group" - not by anyone who was asked to leave. All who left left of their own accord. Obviously we wish them the very best - mostly because we don't want the nastiness and trouble within our club. They came up with some extremely hilarious "rules" and some even more dense agenda criteria. In fact, most of what they don't want was what they pushed for in our club and caused the most trouble. I find it puzzling that the few who didn't even have cars were the ones making the most trouble about how the club was progressing - our club is for car enthusiasts. Anyway, more power to them. We now have a happy, fun, friendly club that can spend their time discussing cars and everything that goes along with owning them !
Newsletter subscriptions are $12.00 a year. We have a regular friendship dinner every Wednesday night at Elmers, in the conference room. People begin arriving about 5:00 and we usually chat until about 7:00 or so. Good food, and good friends. We also have a Friday Friendship Dinner, a different restaurant every time.
Born in Klamath Falls, Oregon, in December of 1993, we've grown from an original 9 members to a giant family of more than 100 members. The year 2000 the Rebels put on their very first show n' shine benefiting Harbor House, a home for families of abuse. We had an outstanding turnout of 108 entry's and despite the rain, everyone seemed to have a great time! We regularly donate to Hospice, the Bly Community, Toys for Tots, The Food Bank, the Farmers Relief Fund, Harbor House, , The Klamath Basin Senior Center, Klamath Basin Potato Festival, Senior Center, March of Dimes Jail & Bail fundraisers, and the Childrens Miracle Network in conjunction with Rays Food Warehouse. We began the "Whistle While you Wait" campaign in conjunction with Klamath County Search and Rescue and our club donated and distributed over 1500 whistles to community kids free of charge, ensuring the saftey of our kids.
The 8th Annual Box Car Show 2003 was once again a terrific event ! What a great, talented bunch we have. This year we saw a Humvee, an Army Jeep, a Chuck Wagon, a train "box car", ice scream truck, a '57 Chevy,& much more. Lots & lots of "brain games", awesome BBQ, and some outstanding raffles were enjoyed by everyone. By the time we left, everyone was talking about what kind of car they're going to make for next year so I guess that means that they all enjoyed this event tremendously ! ! Glen Curtis won 1st place once again with his little yellow hot rod, Justin Davidson won 2nd with his Army Jeep, Kristen Plumb won 3rd with her HummVee and honorable mention to a decked out Paper Car from Ann. Justin won the 50/50, and Ann won the Count the Penny Jar. Way too much food, perfect weather, good music and best of all - the greatest time spent with the greatest friends.
The 9th Box Car Show in 2004 was held on an absolutely gorgeous day - again, much too much food, wonderful games, great raffles, and a super day spent with lots of friends.
The year 2002 we helped with a fundraiser for Justin Cdebaca, a senior at Klamath Union High School that was recovering from surgery. We had a grand success - it was probably one of the nicest weekends of the year, a lot of the kids from K.U. brought their cars, the chefs cooking those delicious burgers were fantastic, and we were lucky enough to take some awesome shots of the show from the roof of the school, not to mention some shots of our classics in front of the school bell. A lot of us graduated from K.U., so this was an added treat.
May 22nd, 2004, our club put on the 9th Annual Fundraiser for The Childrens Miracle Network held at Rays Food Warehouse. A windy but gorgeous day ! ! ! They outdid themselves again by serving a tri-tip barbecue - there's no one more starving than a car-owner. Most of us have 90% of our paychecks in these cars - eating tri-tips or anything that used to moo is a dream come true ! This year the live entertainment was astounding and we had 67 cars registered and surpassed the monies raised last year. Winners were treated this year to Rebel hand-made jukebox plaques. We're proud to say that we've raised over $30,000.00 for this event since it's beginning. Every Year the much look-forwarded to Crescent City Sea Cruise is always the highlight of the whole year! 2005 the day was so beautiful that we were all surprised to find we had sunburned noses. The show & dance was the best yet - Rocky and the Revelettes put on one heck of a show that kept us all dancing to those great songs of the past. Sea Cruise 2006 will be held on October 6/7/8 and we're as excited about attending this show this year as we were our very first year. This has always been touted to be the "Best of the Best" and the greatest way to end the year.
The Rebels again participated in the March of Dimes "Jail & Bail" program, taking arrest warrants and picking up the "perps" and taking them to jail so they can raise "bail" benefiting the March of Dimes. We had a fantastic time last year and this year was more fun as we had more "police" and were graced with handcuffs, English Bobby hats, and some balls & chains. This year we raised over $17,800 - bringing the total to over $46,000 the last three years !
And the best for last: Our Christmas Party 2006 - once again, this just gets better and better every year. The Crafters out-did themselves with the table decorations and the food was outstanding (almost to the point of hurting). The gift exchange had the most super gifts this year as seen by all the "stealing" this year - I don't think anyone got to keep their gift. Seems like the best way to keep a gift is to steal one from the very first 'cause you no sooner sit down then someone comes and grabs it. We awarded Buck Ferguson the Sean Smith Volunteer of the Year Award for all his volunteer work. Buck is always the first one to raise his hand and offer help or a super good suggestion for our club events.
We just distributed the Rebel Calendar for 2007 - this year depicting members in their youth. And the list of shows for 2007 - already a 2-page list ! ! We had a 4 page list for 2006 and are just beginning to add shows to our 2007 list.
