Romantic Times Booklovers Convention in Kansas City (MO :) -- October 2003

Trust me, the author's life isn't glamorous! These are my "babe" shots. I got to dress up for the RT ball on the Saturday night (because RT was honoring me :) so I had a friend take pictures. I'd been out with my Kansas City guys the night before, shooting an IPSE qualifier with them at The Bullet Hole, and then having KC barbecue. I promised them a few glamor shots...so honeys, here I am, wearing my backless evening gown and my Team Kansas Gunsite shooting cap. ;)

At the RT Saturday night festivities, I was one of several authors (Suzanne Brockmann, Kat Martin, Heather Graham, Bobbi Smith, etc) who were honored by being escorted up onto the dais while one of the Mr. Romance contestants portrayed our particular hero -- in my case, Sgt. Joe Reilly of the Beverly Hills PD Special Tactics Unit, from my Meg Gillis series.

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is what Charlaine Harris dubbed the "swoop" photo, wherein, having presented me with a beautiful, long-stemmed, red rose, David picked me up and twirled me around the stage -- truly a Reilly (and a Romantic Times) moment! (Yes, indeed, a writer's life, so incredibly dull... ;)

I had other pictures of the Romantic Times convention, but Lord knows what became of them while we were prepping for evacuation last Sunday during the Simi Valley fires. If I can find them, I'll post 'em!
