I have a question for you that everyone is wondering about too. The question is why did our bus reps of our union say the following.
Since the national negotiation's went threw we could ask for more money on our local contract?
As you well know this did not happen!!!!!!!!! Just like our #'s were set at national's. Nothing can be done about this either. The same thing was said. We can fight this at our local level.Some one that set in the negotations remembers this also. My comment was do you think we were Screwed Again? Yes. Do you think as far as National Negotiations we were mis-represented. Yes you could say that.
What is your comment or answer for this one.I would really like to know why we where not told THESE NATIONAL NEGOTIATIONS WERE AGAIN ANOTHER DONE DEAL?
There was some good that came out of these negotiations. We just need to be at a good pay scale, so people can support there families instead of living from pay check to pay check.

The attendance policy is TERRIBLE ! There will be alot of people on warnings for a long time. Most people think they can miss 9 days and be ok. They don't understand the revolving year. I think the union should have explained that in the meeting this morning....most people don't know what they are letting themselves in for.

I cannot believe this new contract went through. Why should there be that low cap on the load and unload workers. Everyone else has a 130 cap, I think they should too! Did you know that if you have a court appearance and it is a result of your own actions, you will get points against you on attendence. That was something I over looked. I feel these are issues that we should have striked for. I am sorry this passed. We need to get some people on the E Board with some seniority that know about small things that make a big difference. I hope everyone who reads this will pass it on to other employees who can help our situation and get volunteers to get involved any way they can to help our union. Stand up and fight for our rights!

I hope we were able to sufficiently answer your questions in the conversation we had today at work. If not, feel free to contact us again. Now to the answers...:
In context, I believe our Business Representative was responding to questions about striking and he had said earlier that in the event we had reason to, and chose to strike, that would put everything back on the table.
As to if we were misrepresented in Nationals, I, of course, feel that we would have been better represented by a Negotiating Committee nominated and elected by the rank-and-file members of our Local. This was part of a proposal to change our Local By-Laws that was submitted to the Executive Board nearly a year ago and was never put before the membership for ratification. This is the kind of injustice we hope to rid this Local of in April....
