REUNION ASSOCIATION

The 511th AC&W Group REUNION ASSOCIATION is made up of U.S. Air Force personnel and civilian technicians who were assigned to the Air Defense of Northern Japan from 1947 through 1960. The various remote radar sites on the Island of Hokkaido, the radar sites on Northern Honshu Island, the Air Bases of Chitose and Misawa and the ADCC are the organizations that meet the requirements for membership in the ASSOCIATION. The actual organizations were the 613th AC&W Squadron, the 847th AC&W Squadron, the 848th AC&W Squadron, the 511th AC&W Group, and the 39th Air Division.
The Association currently has over 1700 members and is currently looking for over 4000 personnel that have been identified as meeting the membership criteria. We also keep a file of personnel that are no longer with us and that roster has 1899 names on it.
The Association meets once a year for about 4 days to renew old friendships, welcome new members and generally have a good time. We met in San Antonio, TX in 1994, New Orleans, LA in 1995, Dayton, OH in 1996, Colorado Springs, CO in 1997, Nashville, TN in 1998, Las Vegas, NV in 1999, Arlington,. VA in 2000, Branson, MO in 2001 , Charleston, SC in 2002 , Colorado Springs, CO in 2003, Portland, OD , San Antonio in 2005, Chattanooga in 2006 and we will be meeting in Salt Lake City, UT in September 2007..
If you are a person, or know of a person, who was part of the Air Defense of Northern Japan during the period of 1947-1961, we would certainly like to hear from you. Please send an email to japan511@aol.com with your name, years you were Japan and site/base you were assigned to.
You can view a roster of those comrades that are no longer with us by clicking on the links below. We have the date of death in most cases but no other info. We make it a point of remembering these persons during our reunion activities.

- ANOTHER PUBLICATION ATTRIBUTED TO A 511TH MEMBER, DICK WALDRON, AUTHOR OF SITE 18: SHORT STORIES FROM A REMOTE RADAR SITE IN JAPAN DURING THE KOREAN WAR AND THE COLD WAR. 182 pages, 25 illustrations, two maps, fifteen stories (12 from Site 18, two about Misawa AB, and one boarding a troopship. Also ten newspaper articles about the sites and Russian/USAF conflicts. Also a personnel roster of Site 18 from 1952-1953. - IT IS DUES TIME AGAIN. EFFECTIVE JUNE 1, 2007 THOSE WHO HAVE NOT PAID THEIR DUES WILL BE PLACED ON THE "INACTIVE LIST." ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP INSURES AN ANNUAL COPY OF THE MASTER ROSTER, COPIES OF THE QUARTERLY NEWSLETTERS AND INFORMATION ON THE UPCOMING ANNUAL REUNION.
