[revised Oct. 2002.   This site contains a transcription of the history of Millstadt & Millstadt Township [then called Centerville Precinct] which was originally published in 1881 in the History of St. Clair County.  The article does contain some errors, so all information should be verified with other sources.]

[revised 2004.   A list of 169 Millstadt area Civil War veterans.  Information varies but often includes the unit the soldier fought in;  his dates of enlistment and discharge;  his date and place of birth, death, and burial; and marital information.]

[revised Sept. 2003.   This site contains an index to all obituaries and death notices that were published in this weekly Millstadt newspaper.  There are approximately 7,000 entries listed alphabetically.  Most women are listed by both their married name and their maiden name.  The index was compiled between 1968 and 1991.]

DATABASE OF FOREIGN-BORN MILLSTADT AREA RESIDENTS:
Robert Buecher is compiling a database of foreign-born Millstadt area residents. Included are foreign-born settlers who resided in Millstadt Township (including the village of Millstadt), Stookey Township, and part of Sugar Loaf Township. The information comes from his 30+ years of genealogical research in Millstadt area church records, cemetery records, and newspapers. Information found in each entry varies but usually includes birthdate, birthplace, and other biographical information. There are currently over 1500 entries but eventually there may be as many as 2000 entries. Mr. Buecher will be pleased to share his information with other Millstadt area researchers. He may be contacted at one of the addresses shown at the top of this web page. Those wanting a reply by U. S. mail are asked to enclose a # 10 size self-addressed stamped envelope.
