It has been a goal of mine for the last 30 years to raise excellant quality German Roller canaries, and I jumped in with both feet. After purchasing two different strains of rollers I set about breeding in an attempt to raise some quality young males that I could show in the fall song contest. I've raised birds almost all of my life but the thought of showing was always an intimidating situation for me. In 2001 I decided to get off the fence and give it a try. On this page you will find pictures of the breeding and training process that led up to me exhibiting birds at the Lou Abbott Roller Canary Song Show in Dayton, Ohio the first weekend of December 2001. It was a great time talking to old friends and meeting new friends, and spending a weekend talking about and listening to some really great Rollers. My birds did well taking second place in my division, and winning the Glucke Tour special award. I came back with two new hens to add to my breeding program, and we are fast approaching the new breeding season. I look forward to what the breeding and show season will bring in 2002. Thanks for viewing my pages, and please make sure to view the second page for some pictures of the birds during the training process.
