How To Locate Your Rabbit's Scent Glands
(Yes, Both Males & Females Have Them!)

You will know when you find these glands because they are very musky/skunky smelling!   They may have yellow, orange, dark brown or even black residue if it has never been cleaned. The residue is a wax-like substance similar to horse sebum. You may use a water/mineral oil soaked cotton ball, as shown here, or Q-tip (warm water would be nice).  This is a sensative area, so if the residue is not coming out easily, leave it go and try another day.

Cecal Pellets

This is NOT the best picture of cecal pellets, but the description is very good.  I think who ever first dicovered cecal pellets, was looking at a squished sample.  They are more round, or grape shaped.  Definetly NOT kidney shaped!  These too are very stinky and  have a musky/skunky smell to them!
