Tet Offensive Photographs
In February of 1968 when the Tet Offenisve began, my father was living at the Eakin Compound at Can Tho in the Mekong Delta. He worked at the Can Tho airstrip which he helped defend during the Tet Offensive. The following phtographs were taken during the Tet Offensive.

1.My father sits inside an AC-47 "Spooky" Gunship. He sits on the right side of the plane. The three 7.62mm miniguns are located across from my father on the left side of the plane. In this photo, my father wears the third pattern tropical combat uniform. Visible on his shirt are non subdued patches and rank.

3.Here is a photograph of the left side of the Spooky gunship. The three miniguns can be seen protruding through the windows. The 7.62mm miniguns were gatling guns that provided the slow moving plane with awesome firepower. The guns could fire 6,000 rounds per minute all together and the planes were deeply feared by the enemy. The gunships had call signs such as "Spooky" and "Puff the Magic Dragon".
