Chronic Pain Advocacy League
cPAL is moving....
The Chronic Pain Advocacy League home page will be moving within the next few weeks... one way or the other because by the  13th of December we will no longer have an account with AOL. Now, I know I am way behind schedule on getting the address posted for our new web page, so please make note of our new email address:
(The case matters ...so use lower case as written.) As you can see the only change is the provider. I don't have the site completed because I have been working on our  501c3  application with the help of a very kind and giving indivdivual who without her expertise with these matters I would probably still be working on the forms this time next year. Anyway, the forms should be off in the mail very soon. It is very important to complete them because this will allow us to get grants... which will give us access to funds that we would otherwise not be able to get. And it we will allow us to do a whole lot of good. Once the foms are complete I will then be able  to focus my attention on the new site. If you would like me to email you an annocement when it is ready for it's
Grand opening
just email me at our new address... you can simply click our new address above. And type grand opening.

The new site is going to be worth the wait... it is going to leave this one behind in the dust without a doubt.

For those of you who do not know who cPAL is...  We are a grassroots organization comprised of individuals whose lives have been devastated by non-malignant chronic pain. Those of us suffering, along with our friends and families have come together to fight for the medical care we need, and derserve. We have come together to demand that the apathy towards this illness become action, that relief from chronic pain becomes a priority, and that medical care is administered with a mindfulness of the meaning of "care".
Everyone is welcomed! Join us, and help make a difference. If you would like more information or if you have a question, simply email me at: ruboutpain@bellsouth.net
Pain Facts...
Roughly 48 million Americans suffer with chronic nonmalignant pain.  1 in 5 americans.

The medical cost for back pain, migraines, and arthritis alone is placed at $40
billion annually. The total cost to our economy is estimated at $100 billion annually.

Unrelieved pain  increases stress, impaires your immune system,
causes appetite & sleep difficulities, impaires mobility...these are just a few of the problems caused by constant pain.  A recent survey indicated 50% of patients consider suicide to escape the pain.

Chronic pain disables more people than cancer and heart
disease. The suffering is beyond description, yet treatment is a
low priority in our health care system.

Opioid drugs, contrary to what you may have been told, are safe
to use for the treatment of chronic pain.  Studies have shown that
addiction is extremely rare, even in patients with a history of drug
abuse.
The above facts are clear...

Find out how you can help yourself, and others with chronic pain obtain the medical care that we all derserve, and need. Alone, it is very hard to make a dent in this problem... but as a group, we can make wonderful things happen...  I know it is difficult to get out... to get passed the horrible isolation caused by constant pain... but if we don't do it, who will?
I will keep working to end the abuse, and denial of proper medical care, after all, this is my life... and chronic pain is part of it. I don't like it, but it is one of the cards I got dealt. So I will continue to do whatever I am able to do, but the bottom line is... without more help...without more people with pain, along with their friends and families, stepping forward, and saying no more! ...not much is going to change anytime soon. Good ideas that when put into action could make positive changes occure, will continue to collect dust. ...
I know we would all like to have someone else do the work involved with changing very old and outdated ideas about pain, and the work involved with changing how the medical community treats people with pain... but there is no one else who is better qualified to get the job done.
It is up to all of us suffering with chronic pain. So ask yourself, in a year from now, two years, five years from now... do you still want to be dealing with the same problems and the same abuses, that we all face the moment a doctor tells you that your pain will not go away, it is chronic. I know I don't. And I plan on doing whatever I can to take control of my future back from the myths.. the misconceptions...all the outdated, and incorrect ideas...not to mention the politics, that are all controling my present. What are you going to do?

email me, or call, if you want to learn how you can make a difference.

It is time to put a face on chronic pain--OUR FACES. Chronic pain is pushed aside as no big deal for a number of reasons...but the primary cause is that people to not connect a person to this horrible illness. We need to show them that the face behind the pain could be their own.  Join cPAL, and find out what you can do to change a life...including your own! I look forward to hearing from you.
