About the Association
An Association for all sailors who served aboard the USS Rupertus (DD-851) at any time or length of service. Annual dues are $15, which includes quarterly copies of the Rupe Scoop Newsletter, reunion announcements, and a list of names and addresses of all current members. Please write to the USS Rupertus Association, C/O Ron Bradrick, Secretary, 13732 Z Circle, Omaha, NE 68137-4133 for an application.

Rupertus Reunion Announcements
1ST HOME PORT-REUNION 2002: The Red Lion Hanalei Hotel in San Diego, CA will be the site of the 2002 Rupertus (DD-851) Association Reunion. The reunion is scheduled for Sept. 12th through the 15th. This will be the eighth reunion of former Rupertus sailors and guests. You do not have to be an association member to attend the annual reunion. We welcome all those who served aboard the Rupertus, their widows and children. We also welcome anyone who served aboard sister ships to the Rupertus. If you would like to attend, please contact Vince Cortese, Association President at: 8800 W Canyon Ave., Kennewick, WA 99336-7962 by mail with your name and address so that you may receive reunion application forms. 21 September 1945--At exactly fifteen minutes past eleven, when the tide was at it's peak, Mrs. Alice H. Rupertus, widow of Major General Henry W. Rupertus, shattered a champagne bottle over the bow of the USS Rupertus (DD-851) and the destroyer slid down the ways into the water.
