GROWTH MANAGEMENT BYLAW

Currently the Town's Planning Board's Master Plan Subcommittee is proposing a temporary Growth Management Bylaw that places a yearly cap on the number of building permits allowed. The purpose of this bylaw is slow down the rapid construction of single family residences so the other concerns that unimpeded development causes can be addressed. They include loss of open space, overcrowding of schools, concerns with water supply and others...

Purpose and Intent of the Growth Management Bylaw

  • Provide temporary tool for management of new residential growth
  • Provide time for planning and implementation of adequate services and facilities to accommodate growth.
  • Plan for growth that mitigates detrimental impact on the Town's natural environment, rural character, quality of life, property values, tax rate, and the health and safety of all current and future residents
