Like many people, you may have been told that breeding Appaloosa to Appaloosa will result in loss of color or loss of refinement. Here at Sable Forest, we believe that by carefully selecting the right individuals within the breed, that intelligent, athletic, colorful foals can be produced that are conformationally correct as well as beautiful. Certainly, a horse is more than it's hide or the paper that it's pedigree is printed on, but in the process of producing foals from one generation to the next, we strive to improve the entire package. Pedigree, color and a talented athletic, well-put-together horse can come in one package from an Appaloosa x Appaloosa mating. Others are beginning to join us in dispelling myths that say the only way to produce good Appaloosas is to cross them to another breed. It is time to take the breed to a higher level, one that recognizes that a refined, talented purebred can exist, a purebred Appaloosa.
