Living in these areas helped him to gain the skills that made him a successful teacher, parent, and street-smart individual. A strong family unit and athletic ability kept him from falling prey to the crime-riddled streets that claimed many a childhood friend.
At twenty years of age, Sam Ross was a licensed New York City teacher and later married and began to raise a family.
